Bass Shapes

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi DB Folks,

I'm new to talkbass...read it all the time...so I thought jump in.

Could I please get some opinions on bass shapes. I am interested in a pear model or "Quenoil" model. I played one that sounded great both for solo and in the section. The ribs were 8 3/4" in the lower bouts.

Do you think that the depth of the ribs help give it more of an orchestral low end sound? Or is it the width of the lower bouts? Or a combination of things?

Respectfully,

fleatonius
