Post Bass Theory

I am just starting to get real serious about my bass playing. Stuck-n-a-Rut says it all I have been tinkering around with my Bass for a couple of years and getting nowhere. I picked up this Theory course and have a couple of questions because some things are unclear. If anyone out there would be willing to talk to me I would greatly appreciate it.

theory is great however can be difficult to apply if you dont have other musicians to work with in order to put it all into context.
