Hey all - great site and interesting forums. In 1960s I was an UB player, but BG won over and I played a Higgins, Gibson EB0, Guild Hollowbody, and then got stuck on P-basses ever since. Just got back into UB this year.
Went from R&B and rock in Texas to Folk in New England and have been a long time Klezmer sub for a Nashua NH band. Many years of coffee house folk. But after a couple year foray into classical tuba I'm back in bass doing UB/BG in a bluegrass group.
www.bowjunction.com (guess I keep looking for something I'm good at - haven't found it yet!)
"Saved some money" on a cheap Ebay UB case for my 50's Framus UB. Going out a tricky doorway, the handle came off in my hand, but the bass kept going down the stairs. When I unzipped the case, 1/4 of the upper bout was fractured off with the neck which had separated from the body. Never a better ad for a Gollihur case.....My old American Standard UB in the 60s would take no end of abuse, but I didn't know how lucky I was. I think that one sold for $75.00 to another collge student.
Glad to find this resource. My feeble beginnings of a bass oriented blog are off at

A tip of the hat to all the low register musicians - appreciate the benefit of all your experience
