Buying a new Ampeg rig!
 

I'm getting ready to purchase a new Ampeg rig and was looking for solid advice about what is the best way to go on this. I'm looking at an svt pro 7 head and wondering about cabinets. I was thinking about using a 4x10 and a 1x15. This starts to get into questions about Oms and watts. I looking at Ampeg cabinets and really want great low end. As I believe the 1x15 will be a weak link, would it be better to get two 4x10 cabinets as reviews are saying that they get really great low end. Also, ported cabinet or fully enclosed as far as bottom end. Thanks for the help!

Personally I would go with a sealed 810.

The 8x10 cabinet bottom end sound is what I'm looking for but that cabinet is bulky. I'm working with $2,000 maybe a little more depending on how much the cabinets will cost. I want two separate cabinets to make it more portable. What is the best Ampeg stuff to get to have it loud and have great bottom end in a stack for this price range?

Two 410s is a far better option than a 410 and a 115.

Two pn 410's and a 7 pro.....can't lose....

I have seen some bad reviews for the pro 7 head saying that people are having trouble with them stopping working due to various problems. If anyone who has one can offer some advice on this head please do as I'm about to purchase this stuff. Again, I'm working with $2,000 or so and really want the best stuff in ampeg that I can that won't die on me right after I get it home.

The Rev. D00 (current) is fine. No issues with it at all. The problem units were Rev. A00, with each revision getting better. They have it right now.

Watch out, the Ampeg of today is not what it once was. Most everything is made over seas, WAY overseas. If you were to have a year 2000 SVT 810 cab setting next to a 2013 SVT 810 cab, that's all you would need to see. Take your $2,000.00 and buy a used SVT classic head (all tube) and 2 Ampeg HLF 410 cabs (which you should easily be able to do). You will love the tone, the head room, the volume, everything. It will suck when it's time to re-tube (once per year if you gig regular) but its worth it!

FYI, for some reason, the 810 cabinet sounds much better than 2 410's, just does. It is much more difficult to move and transport but its worth it if you can put up with it!

I opted against the ampeg solid state- I would have gone gk- Mesa or other just fir reliability
Having said that tho- **** it- just get the amp and good luck

Seems like a bit of a wild gunman to mee- what the stats- 88 watts for $1000
May or may not work

But I doubt an ampeg will dissapoint in sound!!
