Hi. I can't imagine anyone being too excited to read this, but I'll introduce myself to be polite.

My name is John. I've been playing bass for 15 years. I'm not currently gigging with a band, although I have a lifetime membership in a rock/punk 3 piece called The Adults and I was in a country and rock outfit called The Hampton Bridge that played some good gigs in Dallas, TX, last year.

I currently live waaay up north on the Mosakahiken Cree Nation reserve in Moose Lake, Manitoba, where I teach English and social studies at the high school.

I'm not involved much in the local music scene because Moose Lake parties sometimes lead to gang brawls, multiple stabbings, and armed standoffs with police. (Not to put anyone down--there's good people here, but some of us are prone to feuding and can't hold our liquor very well.)

Anyhoo, I've been a casual reader of Talkbass for a long time and I finally got a membership, which I intend to upgrade as soon as I get my credit card paid down. Tansi!

Hi - nice to meet you! And frankly, as someone who lives in the midst of a hugely populated city, it sounds fascinating.

There's a great community here at TB, so wherever you are in the world, you always feel as though you are among friends here - sometimes slightly rowdy friends, but on whole, an outstanding group of people from whom to learn, share, trade, buy, sell, and swap stories, compare notes, play music, solve problems and share in joys, victories, losses, New Bass Days and Gear Acquisition Syndrome. I'm comparatively new here (and as a bass player), but have learned much of what I know right here, and am grateful for the resource, and for the people.

Welcome to the family!
