Hello, Talkbass users!
I am Enrico Di Pierro, I am from Viterbo, a small city near Rome. I play bass since 1998 (I was 13) and I began my experience with an Epiphone Viola roughly turned lefty, as I was a Beatles addicted! Now I am 25 but only the bass is changed (I play a Danelectro Longhorn and a Danelectro Baritone), I still listen to the Beatles and other '50s and '60s music such as Beach Boys, Zombies, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis and many more.
I play in a band, "i Rifflessi", since 2001 and we play some covers from the artists above but also original songs in the same style (but we sing in Italian). In this band I play bass and sing, but during the recordings I play piano and organ too.
My favourite brands are Hofner, Epiphone and Danelectro. I know very little about other brands, except for Fender, Gibson and Rickenbacker.
I love hollowbody 30'' scale basses with flatwounds on, especially nickel flats as Pyramid Gold.

I like very much this forum, hope to be helpful.
Please pardon me if my english is poor!

Welcome Enrico. I got the privilege of visiting your country last summer. I went to Venice, Florence, Pisa, Assisi, and Rome. Man, I'd LOVE to go back. Italians are so friendly (except for when they are behind the wheel of a car, and then I hate you guys).

Welcome to the forum.

Oh, Rome is beautiful for the history (and I study archaeology at univeristy), but I prefer Pisa (my mother comes from there) with its famous tower and especially Marina Di Pisa and Tirrenia. Theese two small cities are on the coast between Pisa and Livorno and Tirrenia is very '50s american style, due to the nearness of the Camp Darby American Base. Near Livorno a friend of mine organizes the Surferjoe Music Festival every year, and it's very cool! I played in the 2008 edition and I met Daddy O Grande!

Busta_bird: you are sadly right, Italy is famous for its history and arts, but a lot of italians are bad drivers. Unluckily we are famous also for a lot of other bad things such as mafia, Mussolini and corruption. I hope next years will bring us a better image of Italy but it's not easy!

Well, talking about bands I forgot a beautiful group I like: Creedence Clearwater Revival!
