not a complete convert but very inticed by the possibilities. I intend to pick up a bass amp when i find a good deal. till then is there anyway to tweak my guitar amp ( Peavey Bandit 112) to give a comparable sound suitable for praticing??

No reason to give up the guitar just because you play Bass too. I do both and am learning drums. Keys are next.

You really don't need to tweak anything, just use the top four string. You'll be higher pitched, but you can do the basics.

I just plugged into the pa system. But you need some kinda equalization to seperate your sound from the singers.
