Hello everyone!
Please forgive me for asking such a rudimentary question in this forum, but it seems like a good place to start.
I acquired an old double bass from my grandfather when he passed away, and it has been sitting in my basement for years. It wasn't in great shape back then (kind of dried out, no holes though.) so obviously it hasn't improved since. I kept it for mostly sentimental reasons, since neither I or anyone I know can play it. Is there anyway I can tell if I should go through the expense of having it appraised, like possibly a marking I should look for somewhere on it? I know it's at least 70 years old. Please advise if you can.
Thanks!
