F \m/ M Female Metal Musician...

Hey Everybody!

Really I should start by saying I am still in the early process of "TRAINING" to become a full on METAL Musician. What can I say, metal is damn fast and I'm just taking my sweet time.

I am also starting to get old, now 25. I figure it is not too late to teach myself theory. I did learn the basics in school and played some random instruments, but nothing really stuck. It was in grade 10 (age 16) I discovered I loved playing guitar, even had a buddy tell me I played like a natural bass player. But in that same year we had a sub-teach tell me, since I have smaller than normal girly hands, "you will never ever play bass".

Like a turd, I took her advice. I didn't play bass. I bought an electric guitar when I was about 22. But last year I found my perfect bass. The Ibanez MIKRO bass. I also own a digital keyboard, but don't use it much other than the metronome and drum loops.

Welcome aboard! The way I see it, you are never too old to pick up the bass or learn theory. Hell, my theory knowledge could certainly be added to, and I'm 38! Age is no barrier when it comes to music IMHO.

Metal takes a lot of stamina for sure, just take it slow, work with the metronome, and it will come to you.
