Female Bassist here.

Hi. My name is Mikaela. I'm 22 years old, as of 2 days ago. There's a cop sitting outside my house and has been for some time now. .. Thought, I'd throw that in. It's rather confusing to me... Anyway, I live in Michigan. I'd love to find other female musicians and other bassists to learn from. I've only been playing for 2 months, but I can already finish 3 songs and can tab out some music, albeit slowly. Currently working on a Mastodon song. Oooh yay. ^_^
Pleased to meet you all.

Welcome. Pleased to have you aboard. This is a very entertaining as well as educational forum. There are folks from all over the world and covering the entire spectrum of the population. There is knowledge, wisdom, comedy, compassion; some anger and trolling but the moderators as well as the entire group police things pretty well. I hope you enjoy your experience and stay on with us for a long time...

Thanks! I plan on staying here awhile. My pride sometimes gets me into trouble, but what can I say, I'm a proud girl. :P I'll do my best to be good. I love the way these forums are set up and everyone seems to be very informative and kind.

Thank you. Will check them out once I'm done listening to my music. Heh. ^_^ Hopefully, sometime I can post some vids of my own. I'm not bad, if I do say so, myself.

Okay edited this: Checked those 3 out and loved the second two. Especially that second one. However, the first one's quality was just so poor I couldn't really make anything out, so I'll have to have no opinion on it, I guess. :P Nice work, ladies. Someday, I'll post some stuff on here. Maybe soon. I'm covering some Mastodon and Porcupine Tree songs and nearly finished with them. ^_^

That's a hell of a lot better than I can do, for sure. Someday, though, you watch. :P

Not the only one with a Schecter.
Welcome on.
I see you have been posting a bit.

I couldn't get my daughter to play bass, but youngest son does.
This is an interesting community.
You should find help with some of the many questions we have as students of the greatest of instruments.

Another former Michigander.

Hiya Mikaela

I'm also pretty new to this also, been taking lessons for a month now. Got my 5th tomorrow, cruising thru it since I can still read music. Love it.
Good to see another lady bass here!

If you like Mastodon, check out a band called Saviours.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKp6K7p7x-Q

Not their best song, but best quality I could find on YouTube. Their stuff off their Crucifire album is the best (Exalter of Thorns is my favorite track, some fairly challenging bass licks).

Cyrus Comiskey (of Saviours) is one of my favorite bass players. He also plays in the band Drunk Horse, whom are definitely also a good listen.

Hi Mikaela...I'm from Detroit. You got a cop sitting outside your house? You are BLESSED!!!!. There was a B&E accross the street and it took the cops 3.5 hours to get here.....you should check and see if they're still alive...lol. Anyway welcome to TB.
