Hi. I got a question.
I have been teaching myself bass ever since December 25, 2009. If you're looking for an upgrade on an instrument, what are some of the good basses out there?

What are you currently playing? What are your likes and dislikes?
Hard to tell you how to upgrade until we know what you've got and what you're looking for.

TONS of info on here about every bass known to mankind, but if you have a halfway decent bass, my advice would be to get it set up properly, and spend the money on some lessons that can get you to the level you want much faster than teaching yourself. I only say this because, as a self taught player myself, I spent much too long learning the hard way! Good luck!

I am a male and I ve been teaching myself since 1978! I ve been told to be one of the best Bass-players in town by now - so do not give up! I can not read notes, it is learning by doing and listening! I ran my favorite records( those were the days, now its CDs) again and again until I knew how to play the songs! The rest is simple deduction!
I truly hope you ll get rich and famous and share some of your wealth with me, thy humble counseller!
All the best to you,
Stefan from Germany |

I think you're probably better than me, so not sure I can help you, but feel free to join our girl bass player club. I'm a little behind passing out numbers though. "Girl Bass Player Club" here!

My bass playing didn't advance until about two months ago when I joined a band. Since then I can sense my playing getting better. |

| | | | I'm also teaching myself to play. I have a friend who plays bass for the band at our school and he helps me a lot, so if you know anybody else that plays, they can be a great resource! If you can't read music, like me, then reading tab can be really useful. All I can say is don't give up because we need more female bassists out there! |
