The popping may be due to the pick-up being to close to your strings. Try lowering you pick-up(s) a bit and boosting your volume. I wouldn't throw out the Stingray with the bathwater just yet - it sounds like an easily fixed problem.

What is it that you had customized?

I lowered my pickups last night actually...I just havent had a chance to plug up and play...I custom ordered the Music Man...Its very sexy....the color its Roll Royce Burgandy..with Matching Headstock.....with a white perloid pick guard....maple neck which is unfinished.....very very pretty bass.....that paint was the costly part....

Go for the Corvette Double Buck instead of the standard!!!! Just try it and you'll see.
