Hello everyone. I'm Peter Rodriguez. A Bass player from NYC. I joined TalkBass because I want to connect with other bass players from the east coast area. I was first a keyboardist and made the switch to bass back in '93 and haven't turned back since. I still maintain my keyboard chops and am available for gigs on keys, but my first love is bass all the way. I have a full bio, pics, and samples of my playing posted on my myspace page:
www.myspace.com/peterLrodriguez so please check it out when you get a chance.
I love Contemporary Gospel (Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin, Tye Tribbett, Israel & New Breed), live R&B and Hip-Hop, like the stuff Diddy's doing these days on his TV talk show appearances with a live band. Love the Beyonce, Destiny's Child, and Usher concert dvds. That's the kind of playing I would love to do on a regular basis!
Not too much into gear, but I need to be. I have 2 great basses that I wouldn't change for the world. An MTD 635 from back in '98. The body is solid African Korina and the neck and fingerboard are both made of Wenge. I have a pic of it on my myspace page. And the other is a 6-string Ken Smith Chuck Rainey model. Super-Deluxe with gold hardware, 5-piece neck and body. My main is the MTD, though. It has a great overall sound for recording as well as live stuff, whereas the Smith is a specific sound, usually for Gospel stuff.
I don't have a rig for my bass, just a crappy little 150 watter, but I've played on many and fell in love with the Eden WT800 with double 410 cabinets. I would love to get my own setup just like that one day.
