gettin back into it!

Hey people, I have been evesdroppin for a couple of days now on this site. I am impressed with what I have seen so far. I am getting back into bass after taking about ten years off. I want start a small recording (4 or 8 tracks) for my own ideas. I have owned several basses over the years. 3 Trekers 4 string fretless, 6 string fretted EMG's and a Jazz copy that Treker builds. I have owned 2 Ibanezes and and don't like most fenders I have played. 15 years ago graphite was the way to go, I lusted after Zons for too many years. Any help from the census on this topic is appreciated. Also whatever happened to 8 track tape recorders? Main influences are Mannring, Egan and of course Young and Franklin. I have always like the fretless sound. Instrumentals were it for me. Any ways thanks in advance for the info I amsure I will learn from you folks!

Good luck to you. I was out of music for ten years and didn't even pick up my bass for six. Two years ago I decided, with some encouragement from my wife, to start again. I'm now in my mid forties and having more fun than I did when I was twenty. It's never too late.
