Hi Folks!
I'm Paul from Southern California.
I've made the whole hearted commitment from guitar (35+ years playing lead guitar with self inflicted musical education) to the bass. It now makes sense why I've always had a thick tone on the guitar....
Anyway, I'm currently woodshedding, learning to read bass clef (I've taken to it rather well) and I'm working on harmony. I've always had a very good ear and have done things instictively and on the fly. Its nice to know the nuts and bolts of what I'm doing. Needless to say, my creative juices are on the boil and I'm loving every minute of it. My ultimate goal is to step into retirement in a few more years (unless the lottery accelerates that for me, and since I don't play, it's not going to happen straight off) and put together a piano duet to play locally for an apperciative dining crowd. I would have no objections to stepping back into the recording studio aswell
I currently own two electric basses (Fender P & J) along with my three guitars, mandolin, flute and kazoo. I plan on jumping into double bass by 2009.
I love nearly all music but have a greater appreciation for quieter, lyrical passages, especially if generated from acoustic instruments (hence the double bass desire). I love the proper use of notes and the seasoning of silence.
I'm very much looking forward to meeting you all.
Paul
