Hi

,
I'm Dave Ellis from the city of Hull in East Yorkshire, U.K.
I've been messing around with double bass for over 30 years. Currently I have a nice East German 3/4 size instrument c. 1960, all wood with swell-back, no makers name but I'm very happy with it. I play mostly jazz, all styles, traditional to free improvisation (I'm not proud!

), plus a bit of folk and world music.
I also have a stick bass made by my friend and all round bass-ace Peter Barnaby which I use for more experimental stuff. There are a couple of cheap'n'cheerful bass guitars around

just to keep my hand in, but I don't get to use 'em much as people seem to like the sound of the stick, even for rockier stuff. Oh yeah, and an old Eb tuba for the occasional all-weather outdoor gig.
Always pleased to hear from people on matters bassic.
Cheers

,
Dave
