Hey
1st post, so here goes!
I'm a small-time bass player living on the east coast of Scotland, just north of Montrose if anybody knows it! I've just left school, so no more school orchestras or samba bands unfortunately, but I'm in the local council's Music Centre Big Band, have been for a few years now, and I've met some brilliant musicians! Also in a few local folk/ceilidh groups and a few different bands with friends, playing simple music for simple pleasures!
My main influences, well, all the usuals, like Victor Wooten, John Patitucci, Jaco Pastorius and the like, along with Geezer Butler who, in my opinion, pioneered the distorted bass feel, by daring to turn the amp up to 10, so he's an important influence.
My styles, well, I like pretty much anything anybody throws at me, be it classic rock, metal, prog rock/metal, jazz/swing, blues, funk, folk/traditional, and even some classical (you know who you are, Mr J.S Bach! Cello sonatas!) You name it, I'll play it.
My gear, well, I've got my pride and joy - a Peavey Grind Bass 6-string, with fretless double-bass style flatwounds, this bass is one of the best 6-strings in its price range IMO. Seen me through a lot this bass, lots of low end, but good high-end support too. Also, I've got my first bass, a Peavey Milestone III, in blue, which I plan on turning into a fretless at sometime. This is my rough bass, good for thrashing a bit, but that'll change a bit when its fretboard goes bald...
Well, there's a concise, allbeit brief, account of me, my music life and I. Any questions, queries or the like, feel free to IM me, I'll do what I can.
