Hello there,
I'm an 18-year old bassplayer from Estonia, (a new member of the EU, south to Finland and borders with Russia in the east).
I've been playing bass for about 1.5 years (finished my first year in a music school a few months ago), but active in music since I was 3.
I started with piano and singing. I was also a member of the Boys Choir of Estonian National Opera for 5 years. Hope to continue developing my vocal skills (I am stuck with Alexi Laiho's vocals).
So I've been active mainly in classical music.
I've been always keen on everything very melodic, powerful and in minor (maybe that's an influence singing in choirs has left on me). I am very interested in the music of Children of Bodom, Rhapsody of Fire, I also like vocals of Despised Icon.
My musical influences are definitely Alexi Laiho (guitar & vocals), Victor Wooten (I've got his DVD, few albums and the book "Me & My Bass Guitar"), also maybe Larry Graham and Jaco.
At the moment I'm playing old-school rock even though I'd like to play something more melodical and heavier - but in Estonia the lack of drummers, with similar musical tastes, is serious.
I'm also a subscriber to the Bassplayer magazine.
I am really happy to be the member of the bassplayers' community and I hope I introduced myself enough.
Regarding my musical tastes, I am eager to get comments on Spector Euro 5 LX black cherry (I've never seen that beautiful bass before and it should meet the requirements of my musical tastes..?).
Thanks,
Alari |
