Howdy everyone! Signed up at TalkBass at least a year ago, but other than a few searches never actively participated until now. Family and I currently live in Suffolk County on Long Island, where I've been experiencing a musical revival of sorts during the past year, branching out to 5-string fretless (Brice HXB-405) and electric guitar (Fender Tele)...if my workhorse Fender Jazz bass could speak it would say it's feeling a little jealous, but still knows who's #1.
My regular musical gig is at a local Catholic church, playing liturgical and contemporary Christian music...a great experience that has brought my 30 years of playing skills (mostly rock, with some jazz/R&B/country mixed in) into sharper focus. Work and family schedules prohibit much else outside of playing to the four walls at home (when my kids aren't lining up to play the piano, that is!), but have been seeking out fill-in situations lately. Played a set last week with a regional alt-rock band called The Mondays at the Vail-Leavitt Theater in Riverhead last week and had a blast...hope to repeat that experience with them or with other local bands, especially this summer.
