Talking Greetings from the Middle East!

Ha, bet that title caught some eye's. Long story short, I'm Navy and am currently in the Persian Gulf.

Anyway, I had always wanted to play bass since my high school days but didn't have the budget for it. A couple weeks ago, a friend I work with pulled an old beat up Squire and amp out of his locker and started playing. Caught everyone's attention, and another guy picked it up and did the solo from Enter the Sandman (At least as well as an old beat up Squire and cheap amp can do)

Regardless, my old high school dream kicked back in and now I can afford it, especially with this oh so nice tax free with hazard pay I'm getting .

I currently ordered and am in eager wait for my Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Special Bass Guitar, Line 6 LowDown LD15 Modeling Bass Combo Amp, and Korg GA-30 Guitar/Bass Tuner. (If you guys have any tips of what other goodies to get, I'm all ears) I went with that particular bass because it's supposedly very solid for beginners and easy on the wallet, and a friend suggested the amp and tuner.

So greeting's, looking forward to lurking for a while then eventually talking when i figure out how to play the damn thing. I'm taking lesson's right now from studybass.com, if you guys know of any other good or better sites for newbies please don't be shy.
