Hey guys, been a lurker for about a month and decided to register and join the community!

I can openly say I've been having an off and on love affair with bass. I began playing bass in high school and eventually went off into guitar wankery soon after. Well, 100s of bands, 100's of shows, and tons of gear later I found my way back to bass, and I'm loving it.

Like I said I began with bass and migrated to guitar. My thirst and hunger for jazz led to me a well known guitarist, Charlie Hunter. MY GOD! That guy floored me when I saw him perform on the BET Jazz station. I quickly found out more about him and well it led me to an acquisition of a 7 string guitar (great for my metal sensibilities and jazz chord extensions). I began dicking around with slapping on it and made me yearn to play bass again. Well that wish came true this last Christmas.

My girlfriend and family all chipped in on a SX SJB 62 4+1 5 string bass. It's no Warwick, Fender, or Ibanez, but god damn does it have a spectacular playing neck! It reignited the passion I had for the instrument and the memories I had playing - like playing along to the Louie Armstrong and blues cd's my parents would play every Saturday morning. OH the times!

So here I am, a tired and burnt out guitarist having fun with the bass! I'm building a rig all over again so expect a lot of questions pertaining to my journey for the ultimate bass tone!

Thanks!
