I have two children that play the bass.....so I read here sometimes just to keep up with their stuff.
My daughter is graduating H.S. and heading off to college with a wonderful bass scholorship. She plays classical music with a German Bow. We are looking forward to her Senior Concerto Concert tonight!
My son who just turned 16 also plays the upright bass but also plays jazz, pit orchestra, electric bass.....attempts doodling around on a banjo he picked up for himself, and nearly plays himself to sleep at night with a melodica or recorder. He pretty much attempts playing anything he can get his hands on......and he does it pretty well.
He wants to enter a couple concerto competitions this coming year.
I think he will start by learning Concerto in A Major by Dragonetti so I am looking for a good version of music for that.
They get their love of LOW sounds from advice years ago from my brother who will be performing on the tuba with his "Smokey Mountain Brass Quintet" this weekend at Carnegie Hall.
