Hello!

I'm Jen, 30, from Cincinnati, Ohio.

I just picked up a Fender Squire bass this weekend and had my very first lesson this afternoon. I'm looking forward to hours of practice and more instruction.

One thing my instructor noticed is that the strings are too high on my bass and he said I should either get a new bass or have the shop where I bought it (Guitar Center) lower the strings. So in addition to practice I have extra homework.

My first discouragement was how badly my wrist hurt trying to get my fingers into the right position. My fingers are pretty long but just the action of trying to form the "claw" around the neck of the guitar made my wrist pretty sore. It should go away with practice though, per my teacher.

Anyway looking forward to reading/posting in the future.
