| | Registered User | | Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Central Texas | | | Hello Hello, just wanted to introduce myself. I am a new bass player starting late, 37 y/o. My wife bought me an Ibanez SR300M for xmas. I already play guitar off and on for several years. Currently, I am trying to learn from Hal Leonards Bass Method Book 1, Bass Aerobics, and Funk Bass. I split my practicing time up between those three books and at the end play some simple songs that I can find tab for from Ultimate Guitar.
So far I am getting more enjoyment from the bass than any of my 6 strings that I have. If you have any advice, tips or input please feel free to help a new guy out. Thanks and looking forward to learning from everyone here.

No pics, no bass.
So show us some pics of that maple Soundgear! We want to see it.

Three great books, good choices. I use them with my students often.
Dig in, enjoy the deep end.

I'm not much for giving tips and pointers - too new myself - but the biggest thing is to just keep playing! Read through the forums here, there is a TON of info.
Good luck!!

etoncrow, thanks a ton for showing me that link | You probably haven't even scratched the surface of TB yet, my friend. When I first joined, this cat... Stumbo http://www.talkbass.com/forum/member.php?u=110359, directed me to his sig for about 2 million useful links. If there's something you wanna know, he's got a link for it. More useful than doing a search. Good luck!
