I just wanted to stop by and say hello to everyone here. I've been lurking around for about a week, and I must say that I have found a wealth of knowledge in just that short amount of time. Before last week I never heard of or heard innovators and pioneers such as Jaco Pastorius (the godfather, IMO,) Victor Wooten (simply amazing,) and Adam Nitti (man, I want to learn how to do sweeps.)
Let's see, I've been playing bass for roughly 7 years now (I'm 24), and I consider myself a bit better than a beginner, but not nearly a novice. I currently play a 4 string, but hopefully soon I will be jamming on a 5. I've been gigging since I was 17, and I'm currently in a band that I've been playing with for about 3 years. I stumbled across this forum because I wanted to learn about theory, scales, where notes are on the fretboard, what key I'm playing in, new techniques, basically everything I do not know.
I believe that will suffice as an intro. I'm gonna go head over to the technique forum now.
