Hello Bassists!

Just wanted to say hello to everyone, and let you guys know a little about me.

I'm actually a lead guitarist (been playing for 22 years) with Vai, Satriani, Malmsteen, and Vinnie Moore as big influences. I began playing bass at church last year, and for some strange reason I was soon asked to play bass in a secular band that plays 80's & 90's rock, and country music (quite different from the progressive metal I've been playing all these years, so I'm definitely out of my element).

The only bass I had at the time was a junky Fender Squire Bass that I got for recording purposes, and it sounded and played badly. I bought an Ibanez SR905 and am extremely satisified with it. I knew it was the bass for me when I first played it (and I shopped around a lot).

I prefer not to be overbearing with the bass, but I don't like to just thump the root note on everything either.

Since I'm a pretty much a newbie to playing bass, I've decided to join this forum and try to gain some knowledge about amps, cabs, etc. I look forward to talking with other musicians out there.
