Hello from Chicagoland

Sign in to disble this ad

Hello Everyone,

My name is Sean, live in the Chicago Burbs. Disabled Vet, father of two great little guys. Been playing Bass on and off for several years. Never owned any really nice gear or anything. My first bass was a Cort something or other, then I moved on to a Washburn B-10. While off in the service my sister was throwing parties and my gear got stolen. Went about 6 years with no bass and no hope of buying one(it was pretty sad).
A few years back I picked up a Washburn XB-102 Bantam Series to get back in shape, it was cheap and really all my warden, I mean wife would let me get, been saving up for something better for a while now.
Looking to build up this washburn for now, new bridge and pickups, and going to be buying a head and cabinet in the next week.

Anyway I am glad to have found this place, as I really am not in touch with too many musicians these days. I play Rock and Metal most of the time, trying to get my SH*T together and get serious with the blues. Look forward to running into everyone, and any advice I can get along the way would be most appreciated.

Cheers,
Sean.
Washburn XB-102

Welcome to TB!

You might want to check out the links in my sig. for some great TB info that may help you along the trail of bass knowledge.

Before you buy your rig, I suggest you post a thread in the Amps forum and get some advice on it.

Good luck.

Welcome from another Chicagoland TBer. Stumbo's links are a great place to start.

As for buying gear, I strongly suggest going used right now--prices are really good. You should be able to find a lot of choices on Craigslist for our area. Also, Midwest Buy & Sell on Irving Park usually has a decent amount of used bass gear. Best of luck.
