Hello everyone, my name is Tom "Slim" Louis, I'm an old blues guy based out of Memphis TN, and have been playing bass for about 40 some years. I play regularly on Beale and tour with a band called Delta Highway. My number one is a 74 Precision I bought new, and also play a fretless jazz, a Lakland jazz, and a 77 Musicman made by Leo. Am looking forward to meeting new friends here!

Man, I swear I've seen you in Memphis, round bout 2003 or so. I always stop through Memphis on my way to go hiking in SE Tennessee, and I could've sworn I saw you at a little bar on the west end of Beale St. Rock on!!!! Nice collection!!

Thanks El!

You probably did see me, i've been a regular on the street since 95. In 03 I hooked up with harmonica wiz-kid, Jason Ricci and played 300 shows a year all over the country! Till 05, now I do it with Delta Highway! Check this out!

Yeah, I'm sure that was it. Good band man. Y'all play the 'real' blues out there. I get tired of the SRV reincarnations that float around the OKC area.

This guy actually got me started playing bass … how many years ago now?

I used to play one of those things with the six skinny strings and short necks and Slim would play bass with me on any number of occasions back in the day … back then we used to play a lot of those open mic blues jams where maybe 16 guitar players would show up (me being one) and Slim was the house bass player at one of them, if I remember correctly and on some nights he might be the only bass player there, so he told me to go buy a bass and come down and help him out, so I did and that’s how it all started for me on bass. I quite literally learned to play the bass live in front of people on Beale St.

In Memphis pretty much everyone knows everyone and it’s not unusual to actually have someone like Slim do a whole nite with another band if a player can’t make it to a gig we have all done it.

There is a link to the Delta Hwy site on my webpage.

... Oh and Slim NO you still can’t have my 68 P Bass … and YES we are workin on a MOjO Sonic speaker deal
