| Hello. I'm new. What's wrong with my YBX1510?

I took delivery of a YBA200/YBX1510 combination about two weeks ago.
When the rep called me to come and audition it, we met at a club he does sound for. Right away I noticed what sounded like a torn speaker cone buzzing. But it went away when I backed off the treble on the bass guitar, and it seemed to disappear when the High Frequency control on the back of the cabinet was turned down half way. Also, it was not noticable when playing a 6-string electric guitar.
The rep suggested it was high frequency distortion caused by a ground problem in the vintage Fender Mustang bass I was using. This he was quite certain of, and he reminded me of Yorkville's iron-clad warranty. I wrote him a check, which he is holding onto, took the amp home, and took the bass to be checked out.
As soon as the tech put a meter on the bass, he ruled out a ground problem. So I borrowed a newer bass from my son and tried it, The distortion was still there, but MY GOD! what a great sound!
I called the tech and told him the problem was in the amp or cabinet, and he said his instinct was that it was a cracked diaphragm(?) in the compression horn that may have been caused by rough-handling or rapid, wide temperature swings during shipping. (The temperature here vascillated between 70 and -4 degrees the week before the amp arrived). If that is the case, he said, he could do the repair, and the replacement part would be about $15.
But if it was cracked from exposure to temperature, or from rough handling (the box looked like it had been dragged across some screws or small gravel in the bed of the truck), I would just as soon exchange both the cabinet and the head. So my question is this: do I need to try a different cabinet in case the problem is in the head? or should I let the tech do the repair? or should I return both pieces for exchange? I'm leaning toward the latter, but hate to put everyone to the trouble for no reason.
Have any of you had a similar experience with a YBX1510, and what did you do about it?
