Hi everyone,
I'm new to forums so i'm not sure i'm if i'm asking this question in the right section.
I recently decided to have a go at building a bass and i want to have a thin neck(and i want a dual action truss rod from Stew Mac that measures 11.1mm/0.437"deep) so i'm wondering whether anyone out there has routed the slot for a truss rod a couple of mm short so the rod sits proud, and then route a slot in the underside of the fingerboard of the same couple of mm depth as the amount that the truss rod is raised. Thus allowing for a thinner neck and making the truss rod sit central in (the cross-section of) the neck.
If this sounds completely crazy to all you experts out there, i apologize. If this isn't possible could someone explain why and maybe have a better solution for a thinner neck.
Thanks
Ahbass
