Hey all.
First of all let me introduce myself, I am Amy and i am 16 years of age.

For a while now i have been thinking of playing Bass and finally think i am ready to buy my first Bass!
I already play violin - badly may i add and am a very newbie guitar player.

I guess i would like to play Bass as i couldn't quite get along with the guitar and something has drawn me to the bass.
So for now i am here for info on buying my equipment, and begginner questions but hopefully i will be playing before long!

Amy

Hi Amy!

Welcome to Talk Bass!

When you ask questions about what bass guitars and amplifiers you should look at, let people know how much you can afford to spend first. That way they aren't waste your time (and theirs) giving information that you don't need. Good Luck!

mother of a jazz&classical bassist

Hello. I'm new and have attempted to post several times without success. Luckily a different bass forum gave me some answers. My question was about my son, 17, who plays jazz and orchestra bass, and wants two basses. Someone suggested a "string changer" if you can afford only one bass. My son has orchestra five days a week, jazz band three -- plus he practices both modes daily.

Still... where does one find a string changer.... I googled it and found nothing online. A string winder, yes. A changer, no.

Thanks!

Carol, the mother of a young bassist, in the midst of a grueling search for a good college (he will leave home next year -- and wants to go east --sob!--trying to convince us that nothing in the Midwest offers him the record-producer coursework he wants)
