Hello fellow bassist ;-)

I'm a newbie bassist, just started last March 2007. I used to play acoustic guitar since elementary, but just to myself in my room.

Never been in a band until my church pastor's wife asked me to help with the guitars during praise and worship. I accepted and went on to play just chords and went fine but not really good. After the service, the worship team had practice and I told the bassist back then that we try to switch instruments (he's better in playing the guitar but has a hard time with the bass timing).

That was my first time to play the bass and we went on jamming for the next few hours, and I loved it from then. From that point on I went to play the bass during our Sunday service, and our drummer who also used to play bass teach me some fingerings and bass lines.

I used to borrow the church bass guitar, but now I bought myself one. It's an RJ guitar, actually a MusicMan Stingray rip off (I know, but I have limited funds and I like to learn slap, so it's more of a self-motivation). I loved Flea and Les Claypool, and I seriously wanted to learn slap+pop thing with the bass. I also bought a Behringer BD121 to get rid of the noise in the church bass amp.

So I've been playing for 6 months now, I'm 23, and I just hooked up with a college mate to form a band doing world/funk/electronica music.

This forum is great, loaded with advice I could use. I will also try to spit my cents if I get the chance, but I'm just a newbie and I'm still learning a lot. Hope to be able to jam with some of you soon
