Hello from Scotland

Hi everyone. I'm from Scotland and am so new to bass that I don't even own one yet. I am joining in the hopes that I get some good advice right from the very beginning and buy the right bass for me. I am currently learning the basics on a guitar, just so I have an idea of where the strings are, though I know it will be quite different on a proper bass.

I have played flute in various orchestras and on my own for eighteen years now. I have a little experience with piano and cello as well, but wouldn't say I can play either anymore. I am hoping that learning bass will be a nice contrast to the flute and open up some new genres for me.

Well, you 're in the right place treegirl. We have the famous, the almost famous and the should have been famous and maybe famous someday, but not for bass playing

Seriously, there are some good players here that can answer most of your questions and make you ask more.

Enjoy

You might want to check out the links in my sig. below for some great info on getting started with the bass.

Good luck.
