Hi there,

My name is Andy, and I've been playing bass for about a month; prior to this, I played (and still play) guitar for the past 12 years.

I picked up the bass recently to try something new. I like the idea of "hangin" with the drummer and grooving . Plus there are 3000 guitarist per square foot, so having some degree of versatility is good. Plus, I like the idea of getting out of the "Arms race" for a while in regards to gear - bassists are (pedalboard threads aside ) seemingly less concerned with having 200000 presets and racks of flashing lights like guitarists do.

Anyone else here "convert?" I'm always curious to how best to make the adjustment. I picked up a bunch of books, and I feel comfortable with both fingerstyle and picking (although I'm, not surprisingly, better at the later).

Thanks! I look forward to posting and reading.

Welcome. Im new too. Funny I picked up a regular 6 stringer and found it greatly helped my fretting hand technique. Gave me better control of my pinky finger.

Hey there...funny, but right after I posted, I picked up my Les Paul and discovered that my month of bass playing actually helped my GUITAR playing!!!! Go figure.
