I received my first "real" guitar in 1972 at the age of 12. It was a hollow body Epiphone with tremelo (I'd give my next paycheck to have it back although my wife may see it a little defferent). I joined my first band in 1974 playing local bars and dance halls and then bought a 1975 Fender
Strat that I played until 1981, at which time I bought a Carvin DC200 quilted maple, gold hardware, and abalone inlays on the fingerboard. In 1999 I was given another Fender Strat that I continued to play until 2005. I could never get that tone with my Carvin, probably my lack of proper adjustment of the tones and phase switches. It was 2005 that I bought my first bass, an Ibanez SR505. I have been playing exclusively in church since 1994 and we needed a bass player more than a guitar so I am learning to lay down the foundation rather than follow the melody. That's my profile in a few lines and I hope to be learning more as I read here.
