Hi all, just found this forum a couple of weeks ago and it seems to be a real treasure trove of info. Anyways, I played upright bass about 4 years ago in college and kind of gave it up because I decided that I might not be able to hack it sitting in a practice room for hours on end trying to work on my classical skills, however after driving forklift in a freezer for the last four years, I seem to have found a new sense of ambition.
I've been trying to shred it for the last couple of weeks working on simandl and running scales and what not just to try to get a decent sense of intonation back (slowly but surely). Anyways I'm determined to get my chops back so I can try to move on and really improve myself as a bass player. I've been looking around the college here for the last week trying to find a bass player to point me in the right direction of a teacher, but there's been some suzuki stuff going on so all I seem to be able to find is lots of 8 year olds with violins.
