I have been playing a bass now for almost six months. It has been more fun than I thought it would ever be. I thought it would be more like work!
I have been retired from the music world for eight long years and didn't miss performing one bit. What I missed was the daily relaxation of one on one time with sound. Now it's the bass guitar instead of trombone. Time has flown by and I think I'm ready to move over to fretless (I've always preferred their sound).
Time will tell whether my bass talent amounts to anything but I feel compelled to try. This time I don't have to learn the book stuff (theory, reading music, etc.) and I'm free to pursue the instrument with no regard to getting in front of anyone!
Currently working on whatever happens to be playing on the radio...
