Hey all ... beginner from STL, MO

Hey all just got my bass and amp for the holidays and starting to play for the first time. Im 31 and havent played an instrument before, so this is something of a challenge and a dream of mine.

At the moment just playing along with some books doing scales and basic notes .. nothing fancy really at the moment. Just working on right and left hand technique. Ive got Guitar Pro for my desktop, trying to get it for my laptop (OS X) so if anyone has a copy they want to part with for the Mac let me know ...

Any tips suggestions are welcome, and if there is anyone else in St. Louis that is learning and wants to get together let me know.
