Nervous a bit because my first bass lesson is in half an hour
Fell in love with bass a couple months ago, it has been hard to find a bass and a teacher

| | | | Um, do you have any idea what I should expect at my first lesson? I'm just barely sticking my toes in the water... A little nervous. As all beginners are, I'm sure. |

If I was to give lessons, I would surely begin with tuning and knowing where your notes are. Maybe even learning a basic song.
Have you any musical experience yet? |

I didn't even have the benefit of a teacher, I've learned almost completely out of a book. I'm sure with a teacher you'll have an even easier time than I did. Don't sweat it.

| | | | Well, had my first lesson! Everything went well, except for apparently the strings on my bass (which I borrowed from a friend) are older than the devil.
It was loads of fun and I know more than ever that bass is definitely my instrument.
I need to get my own bass soon, anyone have recommendations for a starter?

Maybe you could bring a bass-savvy friend or two along.
Feel free to take pics of your potential buy so we can guide you! |

| | | | A'ight, will do!
I need something cheap and simple. I'll be sure to bring my friend who loaned me my current bass when I start seriously looking.
Until then, Stella (the bass) will do =)

| | | | SX (Rondomusic.com). Simple, inexpensive, built like a tank! Either short or long scale, P, J, or PJ's. Great starter basses. Are you looking for a package (bass, amp, and assorted stuff) or do you have an amp already? I like your motto "cheap and simple". It reminds me of.....me!

What do you have?
I like using headphones, too! |

| | | | Fender Rumble 30 combo. Pretty great for what it is.
Headphones... stupid as it sounds I never thought of that =P

| | | | Brilliant...
But now I feel so silly!

I have a cool set of headphones that also let sound in through the sides so I can hear what I'm doing as well as the sound around me.
Now we need to get you a big rig!
If you ever get the cash, try getting the Tech 21 SansAmp bass driver DI. TONS of fun!! |

| | | | Ooh, fancy...
I shall have to look into that
