As you can guess, I've just joined the list.
For "many" years I've played electric (4-string) bass but have (especially for the last 3 years) yearned for an upright. We (my husband plays great chromatic-style 5-string banjo) play bluegrass and it seems that you're just not a real bass player in that venue unless you play an upright bass.
So... I finally got one -- about two weeks ago. It is an Engelhardt ES-9 Swingmaster and I JUST LOVE IT!!! I should have done this years ago -- it has put new life into our music. (Not to mention several, okay "lots" of unusual notes...but I'm getting there.)
