Hi bass players,
I was flattered to learn that part of a podcast was about my days with Frank Zappa. My last gig of note was as the bassist who finished the career of Ray Charles. I wrote an article about RC in Bass Player mag called "Me and RC" if anyone is interested. He allowed me to play on most of the tracks of his last cd, "Genius loves Company,"and the movie "Ray."
Since then I moved to Las Vegas and am working around town. I'm also finishing pre-production for my follow-up cd to "Heartscapes," perhaps the most obscure cd in history. You might be able to download it from i-tunes and a few other sites if you like. I have an equally obscure web-site at Thomaswfowler.com if you would like to visit.
Good luck,
tf

Hey Tom -
It seems like a lifetime ago but I was one of many who never missed an Airpocket show at the Hole in the Wall Saloon in SLC.

Mike (Miller) was just in town the other day for a show and master class at the U. I also saw him at the Utah Arts Festival last summer with Albert Wing and your brother Walt.

Hi Smidgley,
Cool. It was the greater part of a lifetime ago, I suppose. Those were great times, some of the best memories of my life. At the moment I am in Bangkok reconstructing every tooth in my mouth, including six implants. My dentist is an amazing woman, one of the top facial reconstructionists in the world and quite a babe. And quite reasonable, I might add, though I'm spending $20,000.
Walt and I were fishing in the Provo river last July and I found a new formula for a nymph we always use. I caught more fish than ever. I plan to return this year if possible. Maybe I'll try to set up a gig if there is a suitable venue. I recently saw Mike and my brothers in LA. My dad had a couple of strokes and isn't feeling too good, and Steve is in advanced ALS and is paralyzed. Bruce wrote part of the score for "The Good Shepard." Walt is busy with film work and playing with James Taylor.

So sorry to hear about Bill and Steve.

If you want to play a show in SLC when you're here next, I'll find a place. It won't be the Terrace Ballroom (where I saw you and your bros. with Frank in '73, it's long gone) or the Zephyr Club (RIP). There is a new-ish club, the Depot, at the old Union Pacific station that would be perfect.

The Depot, eh?

Dear Smidgley,
That would be very cool. I'll see if some of the cats are interested.
