hi question?are we underapreciated in the band?

hello i just recently quit my reggae band ht i started and i wqas bass...i felt i was underapreciated though in reggae bass is very important...any bass player whom feels unnapreciated tell me what should i do rejoin the band or what?

i think that all you need to when you feel unappreciated is look at a band like RHCP and watch Flea. Without him, the band wouldn't be the same and that's true of most bass players.

Well, what David says is absolutely correct (look at Primus...).
But, not everybody is Flea or Les or Jaco or Marcus or Victor and we shouldn't compare with them.
And many many bassplayers make themselves invisible by just playin the groundnotes from the guitarpart.
So to answer your question "are we underapreciated?". It depends on your playin, how you approach the song. And also how the other members see and feel the music your playin. I would never join a band who only needs a bassplayer just to fill the gap, think you understand me.

How can the bassist be underappreciated in a reggae band

I think good bassists are always appreciated. The bands who have asked me to play with them have expressed their gratitude for what I bring to their bands many times. If you lift a band up and make it sound better I can guarantee you will be appreciated.
