Hi, I'm Nancy. Here's my story.
Last weekend, my brother came for a visit from L.A., and brought his guitar with him. Talking to him about music and watching him play reawakened my long sleeping desire to play bass.
After bending his ear all weekend, doing much research, lurking in the TalkBass forums, and hours upon hours of reading and absorbing bass info, I was ready.
Yesterday I went to Skip's Music to buy a bass guitar. I tried many different basses, even some way out of my price range. The very last bass I thought I'd ever get was the one that felt and sounded perfect for me. In my research online, I didn't even consider this manufacturer, thinking their basses were ugly, didn't have the features I wanted, and generally that Fender was the only way to go.
I was wrong. The one that sounded and felt the best by far was... an Ibanez. I got the GSR100EX in black (for $160). I'm having fun with it, and dang do my fingers hurt
