Talking Hi there--another bass chick

Hello, I have just discovered this great web site. I am a self-taught bassist, but am taking lessons now. I play a Fender squire p-bass, and have a Digitech BP80 bass pedal.

Have a good one!

What a pleasant surprise to find a hello in my hello! And you played the horn, too. I guess if there's one, there's gotta be two. I had a similar pitch problem when I transitioned from playing the horn to singing. My voice was naturally operatic, so I spent about four years with the New York City Opera before moving on, and I remember being onstage and hearing the horn section, and thinking that I had to transpose the pitches I was hearing into concert pitch or I'd really mess myself up.

I never thought of the Mozart concerti on the bass, although I confess to having noodled out a number of melodies from them on the bass - I learned the Bach 'cello suites on the horn originally (as a kid in LA I studied with the transcriber, Wendell Hoss) - so I already knew the notes. Luckily they were transcribed in their original keys.

Anyway, thanks for the post and best of luck with your bass playing!

Barry
