Hi
I'm new here obviously. My name is Dave. I am a drummer who is interested in learning bass guitar.
I started playing drums at 40 years old and love every minute of it !!!
As I began to play with other people, I realized just how close the bass & drums relationship is. I thought it kool the way I can accent the bass players sound...or maybe simply beating 1/4 notes on my bass drum to go along with the bass guitar doing the same thing. "Locked together" as they say.
Every time I play with someone new, I find myself gravitating towards the bass player and trying to get in sinc with them.
Needless to say, I love the bass guitar as well. A few weeks ago I got a Kalamazoo 4 string for 30 bucks and put a set of strings on it.
Got 50 bucks in all and am really anxious to begin to practice.
My bass is in really good condition except the action is a bit high and when I tried to shim the neck I got a buzz up high near the last 3 or 4 frets. I think the neck is a little "cupped out" so to speak. I'm gonna try a few mods on it to try to get the action closer so my fingers don't hurt so much.
I also had to install a string tree or retainer as it is called. Didn't want to, but the G string had a horrible buzz and didn't want to stay put.
Anyways, I read that the Kalamazoo is a decent bass for a beginner and the 50 bucks is a decent price.
So, thanks for having me here and I hope to learn much.
Cheers, Dave |
