Hola!
I found this site in Google. I'm looking for a help concerning my bass, I'm still a beginner but I've been in many amateur gigs before since my high school and now I'm a college student and about to graduate next year.
My previous band used to play Alternative Rock, Nu Metal, and some Thrash Metal.
My favorite music genre is Death Metal and Thrash Metal but it doesn't mean that I like all bands tagged in that genre. Mostly I chose to listen to pioneering bands of said genre, in short Old school.
My favorite bands are Morbid Angel, Sepultura, Opeth, Helloween, Black Sabbath and Nightwish.
My bass influences are Lemmy Kilmister, David Vincent, Tom Araya, Marco Hietala and Geeze Butler.
Oh well I'm not actually a technical bass player because I sing. I can hit Power Metal high notes and David Vincent-like deep voice.
And now, one of my main concern is that I wanna ask people here for a suggestion or advice. I stopped playing bass for 1 year and my bass was stucked up, btw I'm using a local bass brand from my country because I can't afford the branded. So to my point here is I want to reborn my bass, I just called my friend who's a paint artist here to repaint my bass to white. My bass shape is like Dean ML, dimebag-looking guitar but in bass version. I want to change it's crappy pickups because it doesn't sound good anymore but the thing is if I installed a branded pickup like Bartolini, does my bass guitar's wood body can handle it? problem-free? will sound better? I'm planning to change all of its hardware to stainless ones coz this crappy rusty hardwares are useless now. It's a bolt-on construction. 24 frets. Gibson Flying V headstock.
Can you guys please help me? Just give me some examples, advice or suggestions.
Thanks in advance. I wanna stay in this forum because I wanna learn bass lessons.
Well, I want you to know more about me and I'll tell you I'm only a novice. I never had a formal study, all I did was to imitate the sound of the bass in the songs and play it instantly in my bass, so I can't read notes, only tablature and most of the time I play songs by ear.
