Hello to all!
I've decided to register to this forum because I love playing bass (although I'm new to it), and I wanted to talk to other bassists, hopefully to learn a few tricks and maybe even to help others! Anyways, my username's Rancid Ivy (if any of you visit ultimate-guitar, you might see me around the bass forums or The Pit, I have the same username
), here's a little info:
I was born and still live in the sub-urbs of Montreal, QC (it's in Canada, if you didnt know). I loved music ever since I was a child. I was really into punk and hardcore music until I was 13, and then I got into thrashier bands, and metal. Then I really into got ska and reggae, and finally, when I heard Primus, into Alternative/experimental/odd kind of music. Because of a lot of bassists in all these genres (and more), I decided I wanted to learn bass.
I've been playing since last year (on and off), but at the beggining of this year (January 2010), I started playing seriously, and with some money I had saved up, I bought an Ibanez GSR200 and a Marshall MB10 combo amp.
I've been happy and full of potential to play ever since! I play a lot and I improved a lot since I started (I'm a self-taught bassist, I can't really afford lessons), but I roll along rather well!
Anywyas, I feel like I've written a wall of text right now, so I'll stop here, but I can't wait to participate in this community. Hoping to meet/learn/help a lot from you guys!
