Hi guys. I put my bass down thirty years ago and picked one up again 6 weeks ago. Now I dunno how I lived without it.
I have a thought.
Before I started playing in the late 1960's I loved Tamla Motown but particularly some songs such as I was made to love her. So I started playin bass but got into american rock (I am Irish/British?) and still loved Tamla but never tried to play it. Nobody wanted to play it anyway and it was so difficult to replicate the sound. Blues rock was big then anyway and easier to play.
So at 56 after I buy my new bass and wife threatens to leave I download all these Tamla songs I really loved. I was made to love her, heard it through the grapevine etc. Then I ask myself why these particular songs and I do some research and find out James Jamerson played on ALL OF THEM. I didn't know - never heard of the guy. Now I know his story and all I want to do is play like him. No slap bass or led Zepplin

for me untill I can emulate James Jamerson. How I respect that man.
Good luck to you all
Pete
