Howdy (I'm from Dallas, TX) so we're supposed to talk like that, right?
Anyway, just joined the talkbass.com forum and wanted chime in.
I've been playing bass for 30 some odd years now and I'm the original owner of a 1976 Fender Jazz. That bass has been in the closet for over 10 years and a few months ago I got it setup and cleaned up. And now I'm tearing it up with the funk and fusion.
Since the late 80's thru the 90's, I've been through Steinberger, Warmoth 5-string fretless, MMStingray -5, MMStingray-5 fretless, and even a used Ibanez BTB6 string. All great basses, but they aren't the old Jazz.
I thought about selling it and getting into an F-Bass, but not anymore. Our band (
www.myspace.com/coalitionjamband) recorded our latest jam session and I played the '76 Jazz. Wow, welcome back! What a sound and man is it funky! The jazz bass tunes aren't up on the site yet. Soon, very soon.
Just feeling good about it and look at all the money I saved.
