Hello everyone! My name is Greg. I'm a fairly new bass player, but over the past 10 years I've been a Guitarist, Vocalist, and Drummer for a couple local metal bands. I'd record bass on my own solo recording projects in the past, but playing bass was the one position I had never held in a band or taken very seriously. Then last year I was recruited to play bass in a band called Better Left Unsaid out of central California with some former bandmates and friends from the old scene. I'm absolutely loving it! Bass seems to fit my personality quite a bit more than guitar or drums, and certainly more than vocals!
I consider myself more of a composer than a musician, as my knowledge of theory is severely lacking and is something I hope to rectify in the future. I am quite a capable songwriter however and have been at the forefront of the creative process in every band I've been in. With this in mind, I come to this forum as a mortal amongst gods, curious to learn and fully aware of my undoubtedly inferior capabilities as a bassist.
I also frequent the Andy Sneap Ultimate Metal Forum under the same username. I found Talkbass through many google searches when looking up bass gear, and I'm just now getting around to registering.
I'm looking forward to chatting with all of you, and learning a bit more about this instrument that I'm really just discovering for the first time.
